What is Exodus?
Exodus is a self-custody crypto wallet that supports more than 250 cryptocurrencies.
You can start using your wallet right away. You can buy some crypto or receive crypto from another platform.
Instead of an email and password combo, what identifies your wallet and your funds is your 12-word secret recovery phrase.
Your secret recovery phrase is the most important part of your wallet! Make sure you write it down and store it safely offline.
Is Exodus a self-custody wallet?
Yes, Exodus is a self-custody wallet, also known as a non-custodial wallet. This means that you, and only you, have full access to and control over your 12-word secret recovery phrase and private keys.
There's a saying in crypto: "Not your keys, not your coins." Exodus Wallet is all your keys, all your coins.
Exodus can't access your secret recovery phrase or your private keys, and Exodus can't see your transaction history either.

Do I need the internet to use Exodus?
Yes, Exodus requires an internet connection to send and receive blockchain assets.
Exodus uses market information to give you real-time updates on the value of your portfolio. If you lose access to the internet you can still open Exodus and view your portfolio, but pricing information might not be up-to-date.
You will not be able to send, receive or use the Exodus app to swap blockchain assets using our third-party exchange API providers while your wallet is offline.
How do I keep my wallet safe?
As a non-custodial wallet, Exodus Wallet gives you the power to control your digital wealth. This is why we do not store any of your personal information, or your wallet files, on our servers. This way nobody will ever be able to freeze, seize, or access your funds.
